What's been your favourite product launch in the last 12 months?
The type 45 Destroyers built on the Clyde. Like something out of science fiction.
What was your first Job?
Apart from delivering newspapers as a boy, my first 'proper' job was as a set designer in the theatre, doing 3-weekly rep and running around with many hats on. Design, construction, production management etc. All great fun, and I occassionally still miss it.
Desert Island, who's your man Friday?
Isn't that sexual descrimination - can't I have a girl Friday? (one day a week surely isn't too much to ask.)
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The challenge of dealing with ever changing requests - no two projects are the same. That allied with working alongside people who are fun to work with and Clients who appriciate what you do.
Are you brand loyal?
Brand loyalty? Does that old fashioned concept still exist? In the day of the Web and the deluge of over-information you can endlessly search for the best deal and quality. However I like to avoid all the research and just walk in somewhere and buy a real object.
Are you heavily booked up for the next 6 months?
No - all offers gratefully received. Dinner anyone?
Did you Betamax?
Before my time - or I'd like to think so. In any event it was gone before I had any money to think of spending on it.
Facebook or Twitter?
Neither really, not sure I like the whole bit about self promotion. I'd rather just get on with things. Anyway, who'd want to know, and where would I get the time!
How has business been in the past few months?
Getting quieter! We live in a land that can't quite achieve what it would like to, and loves to blame everyone else for it. And until the creative juices are backed by hard cash from investers it will always remain so I fear.
What did you want to be growing up?
I spent the years from about 8 onwards wanting to be an Architect, until I went to University and within a few months had it stamped out of me by the course. Creativity was subdugated to the needs of straight lines and financial imperatives - it was the age of prefabricated concrete solutions. I left and went to Art School.
Favourite holiday destination?
Scotland - even if it's raining! If you havn't been get your arse up there pronto.
