Sony Professional (stand H20) BVE preview release: As XDCAM growth dwarfs Digi Beta predecessor; Sony celebrates innovative production at every price point
Visit Sony stand H20 at Earls Court 2 from 16-18 February 2010 and be among the first to see Sony’s first AVCHD camcorder alongside its full range of acquisition solutions
Weybridge, UK, February 12th 2010 – Visitors to Sony stand H20, at Broadcast Video Expo, will discover the full depth and breadth of Sony’s broadcast solutions, which cater to every budgetary and production requirement. Not only will this mark the industry debut of Sony’s NXCAM family, but for the first time ever, attendees can get hints and tips on interoperability from a dedicated theatre on Sony’s stand.
Over the last year, Sony Professional has expanded its production range at every price point, giving production professionals a greater choice of HD acquisition solutions than ever before. From the launch of the NXCAM range, Sony’s first ever professional AVCHD camcorder, right through to the expansion of its mainstream XDCAM broadcast line-up and the introduction of a memory upgrade path for the SRW-9000 that will provide high-end production professionals with a camcorder for life.
Mark Bainbridge, UK General Manager, Media and Broadcast, Sony Professional, reflected on challenges in the broadcast market over the last year: “We have seen phenomenal growth in tapeless production this year; in 2 years we have achieved with our XDCAM format what it took a decade to achieve with our Digi Beta format. Faced with diminishing production budgets, videographers are looking for high quality acquisition solutions that won’t break the budget. Thanks to the considerable time savings available in post-production, broadcasters are increasingly turning to file based acquisition to make their production budgets work harder today and in the future.”
When it comes to high-end production, the must-see Sony product on show at BVE this year is Sony’s SRW-9000. Following the introduction of a file-based memory upgrade path at the end of 2009, the SRW-9000 brings the benefits of file-based SR production to a wider audience at a more cost-effective price point. This effectively future proofs high-end production investments and creates a camcorder for life.
Committed to innovation, Sony has worked closely with its specialist dealers over the last year to expand and enhance its product range; adding functionality and introducing products based on feedback from the end-user. For many visitors to stand H20, this will be the first opportunity to see the customer-led enhancements to Sony’s XDCAM range, the PMW-350, Sony’s first solid-state shoulder-mounted camcorder and the PMW-EX1R, its first backward-compatible, solid state camcorder with DVCAM recording.
Not content with developing only its existing product range, Sony has also been pushing the boundaries of 3D innovation. Committed to delivering 3D throughout the content value chain, Sony’s Paul Cameron will be taking to Sony’s theatre at 14:30 on both days of the event to discuss the challenges of 3D production.
