DDP24SSD, the Dynamic Drive Pool also with Solid State Disks and extreme performance.

Velp, February, 2010 - Ardis Technologies presents the DDP24SSD. A new version in the
Dynamic Drive Pool line of SCSI over IP (iSCSI) based SAN systems now with solid state
drives. The DDP24SSD pairs full Project and File Level based Sharing and File Locking
with extreme performance
With twenty-four raid 5 configured solid state disks and optionally its up to six 10GbE or up to fourteen 1GbE ports
or combinations of both, its storage expansion port and its iSCSI/AVFS software this tiny 2U DDP24SSD system
delivers in excess of 1500 MB/s sustained data rate and can be delivered with 3,5 or 5,5 TB storage.
By combining the DDP technology with solid state drives dozens of clients whether on Mac or PC whether with
Avid, Final Cut Pro, Color, Premiere, Digital Vision and others can collaborate with formats such as uncompressed
SDI, ProRes HQ, DNxHD. Alternatively more then 6 streams of uncompressed 4:4:4, 10 bit RGB HD or more then
4 streams of 2K/DPX/Cineon can be used. Performance is also sufficient to fulfil the requirement of any audio
postproduction facility. Several thousands of 24bit, 96 KHz tracks of Pro Tools audio can be played back and
recorded.
Optionally DDP storage arrays such as the DD16DEX can be connected to the storage expansion port of the
DDP24SSD. This hard disk based storage can then be used in combination with the DDP24SSD but it can also be
used as a storage pool for the DDP24SSD. In the latter case the complete SSD workspace of 3,5 TB can be updated
in a time as low as 1,5 hours depending on the number of storage arrays attached.
Because of the DDP s unique technology (SCSI over Ethernet combined with the Ardis Virtual File System) the
bandwidth of a DDP over Ethernet is more then 3x higher then any NAS-based file server. Furthermore DDP
bandwidth can compete with that of the best fibre channel systems around but without the complexity often
experienced with installing or maintaining such systems. It is one system with one network and one manufacturer.
About Ardis Technologies:
Ardis Technologies manufacturers the DynamicDrivePool series of Ethernet based SAN* systems with full Project
and File Level Based Sharing for Avid applications, Final Cut Pro, Pro Tools and all other video, audio and film
applications whether on Windows, Mac OSX or Linux with any video and film format up to 4K/DPX/Cineon. Ardis
Technologies is software technology driven company and the functions of the DDP are developed in house. The
DDP is the easiest SAN around. It is one system (a DDP), one network (Ethernet) and all from one manufacturer
(Ardis Technologies).
* A traditional SAN system is for example XSAN/XRAID/Xserve, Avid Media Networks, SNS, DVS, DataDirect
in combination with Stornext or MetaSan.
