A versatile next generation field back-up device, the NEXTO-DI NVS2500 for SxS, P2, CF, SD(HC) & MSPro-HG

NEXTO DI UK will use BVE 2010 to showcase the award-winning NVS2500, a storage innovation that has been designed specifically with video professionals in mind.

A versatile next generation field back-up device, the NVS2500 can take footage from a number of different camcorder memory cards including SxS, CF, SDHC and P2 via its native ExpressCard, CompactFlash and SDHC slots.

It’s also extremely quick with patented core technology X-copy making it possible to achieve data transfer rates of 80Mb/sec for an SxS card.

This means that a 16GB SxS will take just three minutes to fully back up.

For reviewing backed up footage as thumbnails or to preview full video clips the NVS2500 has a built-in LCD on the front where it can show XDCAM EX as well as many other formats including Convergent Design NanoFlash files, HDV and most Panasonic DVCPRO and AVC files.

AVCHD playback will be supported with a future firmware update release.

There are countless other useful features too. The NVS2500 has a Sync function that allows users to plug in a second hard drive and generate a second copy without the need for a laptop.

Those same video professionals can also make simultaneous backup copies to both the NVS2500 and the USB drive.

To make the NVS2500 ultra portable, the internal battery has been built to cope with 60GB of data transfer. But, if that isn’t enough, also included is a secondary external battery powered by AA batteries and a car charger.

An external power adapter that is compatible with BP-U batteries, custom made for NVS2500 by Dolgin USA, is another option.

In addition, BVE 2010 will see the first UK public showing of a feature for copying internal hard drive data to CF/SD/MS and another for burning back-up folders to a Blu-Ray drive (BD-R/BD).

These will be very useful for the field shooter who needs to rotate media quickly.

All in all, the NVS2500’s fast backup speed, reliability, portability, rugged design and versatility make it an indispensable tool for solid-state workflow.
